Instructions to Authors
At IJIS, a structured abstract of not more than 300 words is employed, and the following template shall guide prospective contributors:
Title: The title of a manuscript should not be longer than 50 words. The title should be in lower case, except in cases where the upper case is best suited, like for proper nouns. The title of a manuscript should bear the state where the research was carried out, and titles should be as clear and precise as possible.
Background of the study/ Introduction: Contributors are discouraged from citing in the background. The background should simply set the stage for the study. It should also give insight into the work, why the topic is important, and why the study is worth conducting.
The objective of the study: The objective of the study should clearly state the problem to be solved.
Methodology: This should indicate how the research was carried out as well as the designs that were adopted to achieve the study objectives. The sample size, sampling procedure for selection of respondents, and instruments for data collection for the study should be clearly stated as well. The method(s) of data analysis utilised and the mode of data presentation should be indicated. Issues like validity and reliability should be addressed.
Results: Results should be presented in clear and simple language.
Unique Contribution: The researcher should state the distinctive contribution of his/her manuscript to past or existing knowledge by highlighting its practical, theoretical, or scholarly contributions.
Conclusion: The conclusion should be handled with seriousness. The contributors should concisely sum up the study.
Key Recommendation: Here, recommendations for further studies on the research topic should be stated.
Keywords: The keywords which serve as the yardstick to make reference to, and or identify the paper, should be clearly indicated with a semicolon (;) separation.
References: At IJIS, the referencing style we adopt is APA 7th edition. Contributors are also encouraged to cite reputable impact factor journals.
Total number of references: The total number should range from 15-20. For a systematic literature review, we can accept up to 25 references.
Tables and figures: The total number of tables and figures should not exceed four.
ORCID ID: ORCID is a compulsory requirement for all authors.
Policy on AI and Author Responsibility
The Ianna Journal of Interdisciplinary Studies recognises the role of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in the research process. Our policy emphasises transparency and the ultimate responsibility of the human author:
-
Author Accountability: AI and AI-assisted technologies cannot be listed as authors or co-authors. The human authors are solely responsible for the accuracy, integrity, and originality of the entire manuscript, including any content generated or refined by AI tools.
-
Mandatory Disclosure: Authors must explicitly disclose the use of AI tools (e.g., Large Language Models like ChatGPT, Gemini, or specialized AI editors) during the submission process. This disclosure must include:
-
The name and version of the tool used.
-
A brief description of how the tool was applied (e.g., for grammar refinement, data visualization, or literature mapping).
-
-
Originality Standards: While we do not apply a standalone AI threshold, all manuscripts must still meet our strict 20% similarity/plagiarism limit. Authors are cautioned that over-reliance on AI-generated text often results in higher similarity scores or the inclusion of fabricated citations, both of which are grounds for summary rejection.
-
Final Verification: By submitting to the journal, authors certify that they have personally verified all facts, citations, and interpretations within the work, regardless of the tools used in its production.
Word count
The total number of words should range from 3000 to 5000.
Formatting
The following formatting should be observed:
1 The manuscript should be double-spaced in A4.
- The font type is Times New Roman.
- The size is 12 points.
- The file should be in Microsoft Word.
- The document should be properly justified.
- The document should be double-spaced.
Type of file
At least two types of files should be submitted in Microsoft Word. These are:
- Anonymous main document. This should contain the title and abstract. There should be no identifiable information to allow for blind peer-review
- The title page should contain the title of the manuscript and the abstract. It should also include the author's personal information like name, institution, email address of the correction author and ORCID IDs for all authors.
Section
Authors are only allowed to submit to the journal's article section.
